Original forest oil paintings

The forest is where most of my work happens. Birch groves with the light coming through sideways, autumn paths buried in leaves, deep green summer woods, the same clearing under snow — I keep going back because the light is never twice the same.

Almost all of these are built up with the palette knife over brushwork, so the foliage stands off the canvas in thick strokes and changes as you move past it. Photographs only hint at that; in the room it reads as texture you could touch.
